Every size can be printed in portrait or landscape. Framed posters are measured by the print inside the frame; the frame adds a little to each side.

How to choose the right size
- Above furniture: aim for art about two thirds to three quarters of the furniture’s width. Above a 80–90″ (200–230 cm) sofa, that is a single 24×36″ print in landscape, or two or three 18×24″ prints side by side.
- On an empty wall: a single large print looks calmer than several small ones. Choose 24×36″ for a living room wall and 18×24″ for a bedroom or study.
- Small spaces: 8×10″ and 12×16″ suit hallways, kitchens, desks and shelves, and are ideal for building a gallery wall over time.
- Try it first: cut a sheet of paper or tape the outline to the wall to see how much space the print will take.
How high to hang it
Hang art so its centre sits at about eye level, 57 to 60 inches (145 to 152 cm) from the floor. Above a sofa, bed or sideboard, leave 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 cm) between the furniture and the bottom of the frame. In a group, keep 2 to 3 inches (5 to 8 cm) between frames and treat the whole group as one piece.

Photo resolution for a sharp print
Our studio checks every photo and crop and tells you which sizes will print sharply. As a rule of thumb, these image sizes give a sharp result:
| Print size | Recommended image size | Minimum without AI enhancement |
|---|---|---|
| 8×10″ | 1200 × 1500 px | 800 × 1000 px |
| 12×16″ | 1800 × 2400 px | 1200 × 1600 px |
| 16×20″ | 2400 × 3000 px | 1600 × 2000 px |
| 18×24″ | 2700 × 3600 px | 1800 × 2400 px |
| 24×36″ | 3600 × 5400 px | 2400 × 3600 px |
Photos from recent phones are usually large enough for 18×24″ and often 24×36″. When a photo is a little too small for the size you want, the studio may offer that size marked “AI-enhanced for this size”: we then enlarge the image with AI when we prepare your print. Personalised posters (star maps, city maps, names and sound waves) are always created at full print resolution.
