Frame and Format Guide
Every design can be printed as a poster, a framed poster or a canvas. Here is what you receive with each one, how to choose a frame colour and how to look after your print.
Poster
Museum-quality print on thick, enhanced matte paper with a soft, glare-free finish. A poster is the most affordable choice and fits standard frames in the same size, so you can frame it yourself.
- Paper weight 189 g/m², thickness 10.3 mil (0.26 mm)
- Opacity 94%, ISO brightness 104%; the paper is made in Japan
- Sizes: 8×10″, 12×16″, 18×24″ and 24×36″
Framed poster
The same matte paper print, delivered framed and ready to hang.
- Ayous wood frame, 0.75″ (1.9 cm) thick, made from wood from renewable forests
- Clear acrylic (Acrylite) front instead of glass: lighter and safer to ship and hang
- Hanging hardware included
- Frame colours: black, white and natural wood
- Sizes: 12×16″, 18×24″ and 24×36″
Which frame colour?

- Black: crisp and graphic. Great for star maps, black and white photos, typography and modern rooms.
- White: light and airy. Suits Scandinavian interiors, watercolours, city maps and pale walls.
- Natural wood: warm and relaxed. Lovely with botanical prints, neutral and Mediterranean tones, bedrooms.
Tip: in a gallery wall, using one frame colour for every print makes a mix of designs look calm and intentional.
Canvas
A gallery-style canvas with a soft texture, ready to hang without a frame.
- Poly-cotton blend canvas, 1.25″ (3.18 cm) deep
- Hand-stretched over solid wood stretcher bars
- Fade-resistant print; mounting brackets included
- The outer edge of your picture wraps around the sides, so keep important details a little away from the edges. The studio shows you how it will look.
- Sizes: 12×16″, 16×20″ and 24×36″
Hanging your print
Framed posters and canvases come with hanging hardware. For a 24×36″ frame hung horizontally, place each mounting hook 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the frame corners. Use wall plugs suited to your wall, and two hooks for larger pieces so they stay level. See our Size Guide for how high to hang and how far apart to space a group.
Caring for your print
- Keep prints out of strong direct sunlight and away from damp walls, radiators and steamy bathrooms.
- Dust frames and canvases with a soft, dry cloth.
- Clean the acrylic front with a microfibre cloth, slightly damp if needed; avoid glass cleaners with ammonia or alcohol, which can cloud acrylic.
- Handle unframed posters by the edges, and let a poster that arrived rolled flatten under light weight before framing.
